Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon played in the NFL into his 40s, so if anyone knows how long Tom Brady can keep playing, it’s him.

Well, Moon has good news for Brady and not-so-good news for Patriots haters.

“I think Tom can play a lot longer,” Moon said on Tiki and Tierney. “One, because of the way he takes care of himself, two, because of the competitor he is, and then three, because of the offense he’s in. He’s in an offense where he doesn’t take a lot of punishment because he’s not holding the ball in the pocket waiting for deeper routes to develop down the field. When I threw the ball, it was mainly down the football field, and so I had to hold the ball. He’s pretty much getting rid of the football in probably 2.3 seconds or something like that where the defense can’t even get to him, so he doesn’t take a lot of punishment.

“So you combine all those three things together, this guy can play as long as he really wants to,” Moon continued. “He’s in an offense that he has totally mastered, that was built just for him and his skillset. The sky’s the limit for him.”

Moon, 62, retired from the NFL when he was 44. Toward the end of his career, he “didn’t feel bad at all” – except for when he had an injury. An ankle sprain here, a broken rib there – they took their toll, especially since Moon tried to play through them.

“As I look back at my career, I shouldn’t have played with those injuries,” Moon said, “but you felt the pressure as a starting quarterback to be out there trying to hep your team, and I did that. I think that was my downfall. But as far as my body overall, I felt really good and I was very productive when I was healthy. I took really good care of myself. I had a workout regimen that I improved on every year, and it really worked for me.”
