Tony Dungy doesn't know what kind of pro Kyler Murray will be, but his height won't have anything to do with it

Tony Dungy won a Super Bowl as a player, he won a Super Bowl as a coach, and he is one of the most respected analysts in the football world.

And he would have no problem drafting Kyler Murray – regardless of how tall (or short) he is.

“The best advice I ever got when I first started coaching – my first year, I’m working for Chuck Noll,” Dungy said in studio on Tiki & Tierney. “He gives me my list of schools, and he says, ‘You’re going out to see these guys. Don’t take a tape measurer. Don’t take a stopwatch. Don’t listen to anybody else. I want you to go out, look with your eyes, and see what guys are doing – and then come back and tell me what you see.’ That was great information.”

When it comes to Murray, the 2018 Heisman Trophy winner, Dungy likes what he sees.

“I met Kyler Murray a couple of weeks ago, and I look him in the eye,” Dungy said. “He’s my height – which, I look Drew Brees in the eye. I look Russell Wilson in the eye. Can they play? Are they worth it?”

Yes, and yes.

“I don’t know what Kyler Murray is going to do,” Dungy said, “but he’s no shorter than Drew Brees, and he’s no shorter than Russell Wilson.”

Dungy also discussed, among other topics, his new book, “We Chose You: A Book About Adoption, Family, and Forever Love,” which he co-authored with his wife, Lauren.
