Tiki: I Would Take Kirk Cousins Over Dak Prescott

Kirk Cousins has been a bit of a punching bag in the NFL. He’s the quarterback that seemingly everyone loves to jab – and hit with the occasional haymaker.

Tiki Barber, however, sees value in the Vikings quarterback. In fact, Barber would take Cousins over a certain NFC East quarterback who is trying to break the bank.

“I’m taking Kirk Cousins over Dak Prescott right now,” Barber said on Tiki & Tierney. “If you’re saying Drew Brees or even Cam Newton or whoever, my answer would probably be different. But I’m talking about Kirk Cousins versus Dak Prescott. That’s the only thing that matters.”

Barber does not necessarily expect Cousins to win a Super Bowl in Minnesota, as the NFC is “loaded” and has “massive uncertainty this season.” But Prescott hasn’t exactly been Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs.

“I don’t know if Dak Prescott can win a Super Bowl right now,” Barber said. “I really don’t. Because down the stretch last year, they laid egg after egg after egg. It was pathetic they lost that division.”

The Cowboys started 3-0 and 6-4 last season but lost four of five down the stretch to finish 8-8 and miss the playoffs.

“They limped to the finish and didn’t make the postseason,” Barber said. “That’s just unacceptable for a guy who’s trying to make $35 million a year and saying that he’s one of the best quarterbacks in football. If he was – if that was Aaron Rodgers on that team or Drew Brees or any of the other elites that we talk about – they’re willing themselves to that finish line, at least in the regular season. Playoffs may be different. Circumstances change in the postseason. But in the regular season, this is when the guys rise – and he didn’t last year. So I can’t take him right now over Kirk Cousins.”

Prescott has until Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET. to reach a long-term deal with the Cowboys. If he does not, he will play the season under the franchise tag and can renegotiate in January 2021.
