The Cleveland Browns, many assumed, would draft Sam Darnold or Josh Allen with the first overall pick. In recent days, however, the Browns have reportedly been linked to Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield.

True or untrue, Phil Savage doesn’t see it.

“I don’t see that happening,” the former NFL executive and current Alabama color analyst said on Taz & The Moose. “In that division, the AFC North, you need a big quarterback with a strong arm to cut the ball through the wind. You also have time if you’re the Browns because you’ve got Tyrod Taylor in place. So that’s led me to think that it would be Josh Allen from Wyoming because he’s 6-5, he's 237, he’s got a Howitzer of an arm, and John Dorsey – before he got the Browns job – was high on Allen in previous interviews he did back in the fall.”

Thus, don’t be surprised if the Browns go with Allen on Thursday.

“The safest option, some people think, is Sam Darnold,” Savage said. “But I think the guy with the biggest upside 18 months from now is Josh Allen. So I think it might be Allen over everyone else – and John Dorsey might be the only person in Cleveland that knows the answer to this question."
