The Golden State Warriors (57-24) are the No. 1 seed in the West, but they enter the playoffs as vulnerable as they’ve been in years.

“(They’re) worn down,” Bleacher Report senior NBA writer Ric Bucher said on Tiki & Tierney. “I think that they haven’t been able to add. They haven’t been able to draft anybody in four years. I look at them the same way I looked at Miami at the end of their run. You’re riding the same horses, and you can only do that deep into season after season until you pay a price. The only question is, is there a team ready to step up and knock them off as the Warriors essentially did to the San Antonio Spurs on their way up?”

Believe it or not, Bucher says yes.

“I think it’s going to happen,” he said. “I’m anticipating that an Eastern Conference team is going to win the championship. I picked Boston from the beginning of the year, but I believe that either Boston or Toronto – if they end up matched up against the Warriors – that they have the wherewithal. They have the playoff experience, and they have the defense.”

The Raptors (58-24) and Celtics (49-33) are the second and fourth seeds, respectively, in the East.

Notice that Bucher said nothing about the Bucks (60-21), who have the best record in the NBA.

“I don’t like the Bucks,” Bucher said. “I think the ability to make the game hard for Giannis in a seven-game series is still very much there, and the Bucks can only play the Warriors’ style – and the Warriors are still kings at the small-ball game and the three-point shooting.”
