For the first time since 2011, Urban Meyer will not be coaching this fall. Instead, he’ll be in studio with FOX Sports college football analysts Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart and Brady Quinn.

How long Meyer will be there, however, remains to be seen. Bush, in fact, has talked about recruiting Meyer to USC if the Trojans don’t improve this fall.

“I’ve joked with him about it, about coaching again, and he says he’s done,” Bush said on Tiki & Tierney. “I never actually tried to recruit him to go to USC. I know that story got kind of blown out of proportion that I said that. I made a joke about it because the reporter was asking me, and he’s sitting right there, Leonard is sitting right there, Brady Quinn is sitting right there. He says he’s done coaching. I’ve asked him because I just want to get to know him.”

Bush, 34, is extremely excited to work with Meyer.

“We got a chance to golf together, to do some events together, some appearances already, spent a little bit of time with him – I love the opportunity to work with him on this side,” Bush said. “We’re going to have to soften him up a little bit because he’s still so engrained as a coach. Now he’s on the other side. We’re going to have to show a little bit more personality. But I think it’s going to work well on TV because you got the young guys – me, Matt, and Brady Quinn – to kind of joke with him a little bit about whatever.”

Meyer is an easy target, especially when it comes to social media.

“I don’t think he knows anything about social media or even pop culture,” Bush said, laughing. “We’re throwing little jabs at him about pop culture and certain people, and he just has no idea. He’s just been engrained in football for so long that he’s lived in this bubble, and now that we’re going to be on this show, I think it’s going to play well because we’re going to be making fun of him a little bit and the things he just has no idea about. It’s like, coach, there’s this whole world out here that you don’t even know about that’s been going going because he’s been so engrained just winning, football. It’s going to be fun.

“Do I think he’s done coaching?” Bush continued. “I don’t know. I have to take him for his word. He said he’s done. I’ve heard stories that his wife says there’s no chance he goes back. She doesn’t want him to go back. So we’ll see.”
