Ronda Rousey will wrestle Alexa Bliss for the WWE Raw Women's Championship at SummerSlam this Sunday, and Taz does not think Rousey should win the belt. She’s a tremendous athlete and has done solid promo work, yes, but she needs more matches under her belt (no pun intended) before becoming champion.

PW insider Mike Johnson doesn’t disagree, but he still thinks Rousey will become champion.

“I don’t think Ronda ever really needs the championship at all because she’s such a larger-than-life character and she brings all that legitimacy from the UFC/MMA world,” Johnson said on Taz & The Moose. “I honestly think they’re going to put the belt on her Sunday because they got Evolution coming, their big women’s Pay-Per-view in October. So what better way to spotlight that and start to build that storyline than to have her win the belt and get all the mainstream publicity that they love to create?”

Rousey, 31, was perhaps the biggest star in UFC before losing back-to-back matches to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes. She won her debut match at WrestleMania 34 in April.

“I don’t think she needs the title,” Johnson said, “but WWE’s big thing is getting themselves attention, getting themselves mainstream media attention, and they’re in the New York City market this weekend. They love to celebrate things like that, and they love to do these big moments on major Pay-Per-Views. They love to have that moment, and I don’t see them booking some weird finish with Ronda. Alexa Bliss is amazing, she’s phenomenal at everything she does. But I think they’re just going to go with what would be the easiest sort of story for them and have Ronda win the title.”
