Devin Bush had a standout career at Michigan. The linebacker had 161 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, 10.0 sacks, one interception and 11 passes defended in his final two seasons in Ann Arbor. This past year, he was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.

And he has Jim Harbaugh to thank.

“Coach Harbaugh did a great job – and he continues to do a great job – with the way he runs the program,” Bush, a first-round NFL Draft prospect, said on After Hours with Amy Lawrence. “He runs it pro-style, he treats you like a grown man, you have responsibilities, and you have expectations that you have to meet. He’s not going to let you fall short of his expectations. You’re going to be treated like a man, you’re going to go about your business as a man – that’s what he preaches a lot. If you want to play this game and you want to play at the next level, it’s going to take a lot more sacrifices than you think.”

Bush, a Florida native, said Harbaugh would at times make him laugh out loud. But he also said Harbaugh was a great mentor who would do anything for his players.

“Anything you’re going through, Coach Harbaugh has done,” Bush said. “He’s went through college, he went through the draft process, he’s gotten drafted, he played in the NFL, he played in big games, he coached in big games, he’s been around a lot of great players, and he coached great players. Just being around a guy like that, he has that background. Hs father was a coach. He’s always around the game of football. He knows a lot about football and how life goes with football. Talking to a guy like that, you know he’s not going to lead you in the wrong direction.”
