Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will square off against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV on Feb. 7, and JR SportBrief couldn’t be happier about it.

“This is what the NFL needs and deserves. This is what the fans deserve – just to see flat greatness,” JR said on CBS Sports Radio. “Lamar Jackson, he might get his chance. It might come in a few years. Josh Allen, I really never understood the comparisons to Patrick Mahomes, to say that he is at the level of Patrick Mahomes when he hasn’t proven anything but that he could actually win a couple of playoff games. I think his time will come, [but] not right now.”

Instead, we get the fifth meeting between Mahomes and Brady. The best quarterback in the NFL versus the GOAT.

“This is what we want,” JR said. “[This is] the first time that a team is going to play on its home field [in the Super Bowl]. You couldn’t write a better story – so get used to it because you’re going to hear a whole lot about it between now and Feb. 7. You will be inundated through every single pregame show about Brady, you will hear about Patrick Mahomes, and then we’ll actually watch the game. We could not have asked for a better outcome. We couldn’t have asked for a better viewing experience or opportunity. Just to sit down and watch greatness.”

The Chiefs cruised past the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship, while the Bucs held on against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau in the NFC Championship. Brady, 43, will play in his tenth Super Bowl.

“I’m glad that we’ll get this chance because realistically Tom Brady looks he may play for another two years if he wants to, maybe three. Who knows?” JR said. “But the clock is ticking, ad I think it is great viewing. This is a movie. This is a big budget to see whether Patrick Mahomes can put Tom Brady out to pasture. I think this is the best possible matchup that we could have gotten.”
