Plenty of Eagles fans still aren’t sure what to make of Carson Wentz. No. 2 overall pick in 2016. Pro Bowler. Former MVP candidate. Super Bowl champion.

But a lot of injuries along the way.

Jon Dorenbos, however, has no concerns about Wentz as the face of the Eagles’ franchise.

“I was with him for a year, and before the Eagles traded me, they offered me a three-year extension,” Dorenbos recalled in-studio on Tiki & Tierney. “I was at a verge where I had other opportunities. I did America’s Got Talent, there’s performing, there’s TV – and I kind of sat back and I said, ‘If I got a chance, it’s probably with this guy right here.’ So originally I signed the extension to basically ride the Carson Wagon – because when you got a quarterback, you got a chance.”

Dorenbos, 39, was traded to New Orleans just months before the Eagles won a Super Bowl. Still, he got a ring.

Wentz, only 26, has plenty of time to win another – ideally as a starter.

“As soon as you meet the guy, you’re like, okay, this guy, he’s a freak of nature,” Dorenbos said. “He’s got an arm, he’s super smart – you can say he’s from a small school all you want, but the guy knows football. Put it this way: I rolled the dice. I went with him.”

Wentz has completed 62.7 percent of his passes for 2,060 yards, 15 touchdowns, and four interceptions for the Eagles (5-4), who have a bye this week and play three of their next four games at home, including a Week 11 clash with the Patriots (8-1).
