In Week 8, Odell Beckham Jr. hand-delivered a gift to Tom Brady: a pair of cleats made of goat hair.

The insinuation, of course, is that Brady is the GOAT – the greatest of all time.

“I thought that was pretty cool,” Jerry Rice said on The DA Show. “But the Cleveland Browns, they got a lot going on right now.”

Indeed, OBJ and fellow wideout Jarvis Landry both caused a shoe-stir in Week 9, with OBJ wearing Joker-themed cleats and Landry wearing gold cleats. Neither is allowed under the NFL’s uniform policy, and both players were forced to change shoes at halftime.

“They had to change their shoes, or they wouldn’t be allowed back on the football field,” Rice said. “Distractions like that was something I always tried to stay away from. There are certain uniform codes that you have to live by. I found that to be a little distraction by them.”

The Browns (2-6) have lost four straight games following a 2-2 start. Three of their losses have come by 14+ points, and three have come by seven points or fewer, including their 24-19 loss to the Broncos in Denver this past Sunday.

In other news, Rice, who won three Super Bowls with the 49ers, discussed his playing days, as well as his new book, “America’s Game: The NFL at 100.”
“I was just like a little kid, and I got so excited about the history,” Rice said. “Thinking about a Lombardi, what type of coach was he and stuff like that – because I got coached by Bill Walsh. The Great Depression and World War II, football almost didn’t come about. It’s just the history, the stories and stuff like that, blacks trying to get into the NFL – it’s just got great storylines. When you pick this book up, you’re not going to want to put it down.”
