Russell Wilson, Lamar Jackson and Christian McCaffrey headline what should be a hotly contested NFL MVP race the rest of the season.

Notice that Deshaun Watson’s name wasn’t in that previous sentence, but perhaps it should be. Texans safety Jahleel Addae sure thinks so.

“I think he’s going to be a future MVP for sure,” Addae said on Reiter Than You. “I don’t know if it’s this year or whatever year it will be, but I know he’ll for sure grab one.”

Watson, the 12th overall pick in 2017, has completed 70.2 percent of his passes for 2,432 yards, 18 touchdowns and five interceptions this year, as the Texans (6-3) are atop the AFC South.

“He’s just a competitor,” Addae said. “He has a thing you can’t teach with athletic ability, smarts, he reads coverages – he’s just a good teammate. I think the fact that he loves his teammates, he plays the game with passion, he plays the game with energy, and he plays the game with a swagger that everybody can feed off of – he does a great job. I think that’s what makes him really, really good.”

Watson threw for 4,185 yards and 26 touchdowns last season and is on pace to surpass both of those numbers. His top target, DeAndre Hopkins, has 68 catches for 665 yards and four touchdowns.

Watson will get a close look at Jackson this Sunday, as the Texans play the Ravens (7-2) in Baltimore in a clash of division leaders. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. ET.
