Perhaps Daniel Jones wasn’t a bad draft pick after all.

The Duke product was flawless in his preseason debut Thursday, going 5-for-5 for 67 yards, a touchdown, and a perfect 158.3 passer rating against the Jets.

After his touchdown pass to Bennie Fowler, the offensive line celebrated with Jones – heartily. It seems the No. 6 overall pick has earned the respect of his teammates.

“I think he has,” NFL and college football analyst Mark Herzlich said on Taz & The Moose. “I think he has earned that respect. I think everybody on that team – and I think in New York – was just so happy to see him succeed early because there has been so much scrutiny over that draft pick – really, unfairly to Daniel Jones because all he’s doing is just going out and playing football. But I do think it was nice for fans – and especially for his teammates – to see him do well early. And he did. He played really well.”

Perhaps Jones, 22, will replace Eli Manning, 38, as the team’s starting quarterback sooner rather than later.

“You saw a different ball being thrown,” Herzlich said. “It wasn’t what New York fans are used to seeing. That zip on the pass, it was more like a touch-placement pass, but it went to the right spot every single throw he made.”

Giants fans have to be excited about a backfield of Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley.

“He is ridiculous,” Herzlich said of Barkley. “I almost feel like the word ridiculous isn’t good enough to describe him, but they almost don’t make good enough words to describe his play. When you watch him play, you’re almost like, I’ve never seen this before. You try to put bits and pieces of different Hall of Fame running backs together to say, ‘This is what Saquon is,’ but I think he really brings this new aspect of running back to the game. He’s able to do everything. It’s exciting. It’s exciting to watch. He’s going to be a fantastic player.”
