Tiki: Derrick Henry "Is Absolutely Right"

Henry would take Ryan Tannehill over Tom Brady, and at this point, that isn't much of a debate

Derrick Henry knows that Tom Brady is the GOAT, but that doesn’t mean Henry is desperate to be his teammate. In fact, Henry would prefer Ryan Tannehill, who helped the Titans reach the AFC Championship this past season,

If given the choice, would the Titans take Tannehill over Brady? It’s highly possible.

“Let’s be real. Derrick Henry is kind of right,” Tiki Barber said on Tiki & Tierney. “Ryan Tannehill had a season for the ages last year, and it was only really half the season. But you look at his statistics – 70 percent completion percentage, and the 9.6 yards per attempt is really what you’ve got to look at because that means he’s not dinking-and-dunking.”

Tannehill completed 70.3 percent of his passes for 2,742 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions in 12 games last season. He also rushed for 185 yards and four touchdowns.

“This perception that because Tom Brady is the GOAT, that he would be better for the Tennessee Titans than Ryan Tannehill, it’s asinine,” Barber said. “Derrick Henry is absolutely right. Tannehill had a better year.”

Either way, it remains to be seen if Tannehill – or Henry – will be back in Tennessee next season.

“Both of them are free agents,” Barber said. “Derrick Henry, if he’s looking at the going market, it’s a lot of money per year that the Tennessee Titans probably don’t want to pay. But if you’re Derrick Henry and just led the league in rushing, why would you accept anything less than that?”

Especially after a postseason in which Henry carried the ball 83 times for 446 yards (5.4 yards per carry) and two touchdowns.

“Put it on my back and let’s go get it done,” Barber said. “They know we’re running the rock. Who cares? We’re going to get it done. I’m going to get it done. Which is amazing in today’s game.”
