The Golden State Warriors acquired Andrew Wiggins before the NBA trade deadline, sending D’Angelo Russell to Minnesota for the former No. 1 pick. The Warriors also received a protected 2020 first-round pick and a 2021 second-round pick.

Thoughts?

“I like the pickup. I like the fit,” Dell Curry said on The DA Show. “He needed new scenery, a change. I think he anticipated this. Coming to the culture that the Warriors have built over the last five years will help Andrew. He was going nowhere in Minnesota. You have another wing guy, athletic, can score the ball, he can be a much better defender than he has shown in Minnesota, and he can take the scoring load off those guys on a nightly basis.”

Wiggins, 24, averaged 22.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game this season. He scored 24 points in his Warriors debut – a 125-120 loss to the Lakers on Saturday.

“Anytime you can pick one of those guys up, give him a new change, give him some new life, I think it will help,” Curry said. “So I love the pickup. I’ve always liked Andrew Wiggins. He wasn’t the No. 1 pick in the draft for nothing. He can definitely play, and I think coming to that culture will expand his game.”

Steph Curry, who has been out since October (hand), was a big fan of the trade.

“Loves it. Loves it,” Dell Curry said. “Again, Wiggins is something that the Warriors have always touted, and it was rumored widely that they were looking at Andrew. Steph, he loves the pickup. He thinks it’s a great fit.”
