Oregon opened the season with a 27-21 loss to Auburn in Arlington, Texas. The Ducks led 21-6 midway through the third quarter but allowed 21 unanswered points to end the game.

It was a tough loss.

Well, Oregon hasn’t lost since.

The No. 7 Ducks (8-1) have won eight games in a row with wins over Stanford (4-4), Cal (4-4), Washington (5-4), Washington State (4-4), and USC (5-4), among others.

Does Oregon deserve top-four consideration when the playoff committee unveils its initial rankings Tuesday?

“I feel this: If our team heard me speaking of anything besides our very next practice, they’d be like, ‘Coach, is that you?’ They wouldn’t recognize me,” Oregon coach Mario Cristobal said on Tiki & Tierney. “But I get it. I get the big picture. The bottom line is I do feel, without question, that we deserve strong consideration to be in the mix when this process is carried out. I do.”

Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert, a potential top pick in the NFL Draft, has been stellar. He has completed 69.4 percent of his passes for 2,329 yards, 24 touchdowns and two interceptions.

The Ducks, who have a bye this week, host Arizona (4-5) on Nov. 16 at 9:30 p.m. ET.

“We got to keep earning it just like everybody else,” Cristobal said. “In no way, shape or form do we feel that we have arrived, but we feel that we are trending strong and fast in that direction and that we should be in that conversation.”
