Patrick Mahomes has had a pretty good start to his NFL career. In his first year as a starter, he was named MVP. In his second year as a starter, he won a Super Bowl and was named Super Bowl MVP.

And a sizable raise is coming his way.

“I would be absolutely stunned if Patrick Mahomes signs for less than $200 million,” 610 Sports Kansas City host Carrington Harrison said on After Hours with Amy Lawrence. “I just don’t know why, if you’re him, why you would take less than that. I would say the baseline deal is five years, $200 million – and probably $150 million guaranteed. We’ll see how much more he gets than that, but if you’re Mahomes, I don’t understand why you would sign for less than $200 million. I think when you have a chance to blaze the new trail for quarterback contracts, you want to set the bar.”

Mahomes, 24, made $735,000 in base salary this season, along with a $2.52 million signing bonus. His next deal will blow those numbers out of the water.

“Rodgers got a new deal. Russell Wilson got paid this offseason,” Harrison said. “If you’re Patrick Mahomes, I don’t think it’s hyperbole to say at this point he is the most successful under-25-year-old player in the history of the NFL. You want a contract that’s pretty indicative of it. I think he is the new face of the NFL. I don’t know what better way to signify that than a nice $200 million contract.”
