Several Pac-12 schools – including No 13. Oregon (3-1), No. 17 Washington (3-1) and No. 21 USC (3-1) – entered the college football season with high expectations. But only one Pac-12 team, No. 15 Cal (4-0), remains undefeated.

“We’re having a lot of fun,” Cal quarterback Chase Garbers said on Ferrall on the Bench. “4-0, that’s our goal – to win every game – and we’re excited for the rest of the season.”

Cal beat Washington 20-19 on Sept. 7 and Ole Miss 28-20 on Sept. 21. Both wins came on the road. Garbers finished 23-of-35 for 357 yards, four touchdowns and one interception against Ole Miss.

“We just executed our game plan,” Garbers said. “Previously in the three weeks, we lacked execution. We came down to Mississippi, and everyone was doing their job offensively, defensively and special teams. Evan Weaver made an excellent stop on 4th-and-goal as time ran out.”

Weaver has made a lot of stops this season. He has 62 tackles (40 solo) and forced one fumble.

“Evan is a total playmaker,” Garbers said. “After the year he had last year, there was no surprise to any of us that he was going to do what he does this year.”

Cal enters the meat of its conference schedule, with games against Oregon, USC and No. 19 Utah (3-1) looming in the coming months.

“The Pac-12 is super tough,” Garbers said. “Every week, teams just beat up on each other, and anyone could beat anyone. There’s not really a true powerhouse team, and there’s not someone who’s truly on the bottom of the totem pole, so any game is up for grabs.”

Cal hosts Arizona State (3-1) this Friday at 10:30 p.m. ET.

“They’re a good team,” Garbers said. “They got great players, a great scheme, and with Herm Edwards, they’ve got a lot of NFL-level coaches on their staff. That’s something you really don’t see in college football. They got a great team, and it’ll be a good game to watch.”
