The Giants traded Odell Beckham Jr. to Cleveland in March, but it appears OBJ still has a New York state of mind. The 26-year-old wide receiver went off on Giants general manager Dave Gettleman on Twitter this week, apparently after Gettleman insinuated that OBJ created a negative culture in the Giants’ locker room.

“You hate to see it,” Brian Billick said on Ferrall on the Bench. “You really do. The business side of it says a player moves on, the organization moves on, and then let it go. Go play and show you’re the great player that you are. I think he’s in a great situation in Cleveland. I think they’re going to be a pretty darn good football team. New York has to move on as well. It was a good move for both of them. You just hate to see that pettiness back and forth. It just didn’t fit with New York anymore.”

OBJ isn’t the first player to take shots at his former team this offseason. Antonio Brown did the same after being traded from the Steelers to the Raiders.

“Whether it’s AB in Pittsburgh or whether it’s OBJ in New York, they were kind of hostages,” Billick said, referencing Mike Tomlin’s infamous line. “It’s good that they got out and got someplace else.”

Billick thinks AB, OBJ – and every player in the league – should focus on their current teams, not their former ones. Either way, there’s no need to get in a war of words on social media.

“It’s petty,” Billick said. “They ought to move on.”
