Patrick Mahomes must really like Kansas City, whicih is good – because he might be spending the rest of his career there.

Mahomes signed a 10-year, $450 million extension with the Chiefs on Monday, a deal that includes $140 million guaranteed. This is, in essence, a 12-year deal because Mahomes, 24, still has two years remaining on his rookie contract.

Good move for the Chiefs? Absolutely. Mahomes, Brandon Tierney explains, is “worth every penny.”

Mahomes is one of six quarterbacks to sign a contract for a decade or longer in the last 20 years. The others are Drew Bledsoe, Brett Favre, Donovan McNabb, Daunte Culpepper, and Michael Vick.

Mahomes was named NFL MVP in his first season as a starter and won a Super Bowl – and was named Super Bowl MVP – in his second year as a starter. He was the tenth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
