It remains to be seen what the Cleveland Browns will do with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. While some analysts insist Cleveland should take Saquon Barkley, who, by all accounts, is the top player in the draft, others believe the Browns should take a quarterback.

If the Browns do select a quarterback, there’s no denying which one A.J. Hawk would choose.

“I’d draft Sam Dranold all the way,” the former NFL linebacker and current NFL and college football analyst said on Taz & The Moose. “I definitely think he has the arm strength. He has the sneaky athletic ability to evade guys in the pocket, get outside, buy time and keep his eyes downfield. But I think most importantly he has the mental capacity to be the No. 1 overall pick, take some bumps. Think about it. Wherever he goes, it’s going to be a team with a losing record, most likely. He’s going to have some ups and down, no question. I feel like he has the mentality that he’s going to weather the storm and he’s not going to let it bother him and he has all the physical tools as well. I think of the four, he’s the most NFL-ready right now.”

The other three, of course, are Josh Allen, Josh Rosen, and Baker Mayfield. All have strengths; all have weaknesses.

“I love Baker Mayfield as well,” Hawk said. “They all could be great quarterbacks in the NFL. But I just feel like if you’re drafting No. 1 overall and had to pick, it’s Darnold all the way.”
